This Mexican-inspired holiday drink creates a whole new hot cocoa experience. Rich, chopped dark chocolate combines with creamy milk for a lush consistency, while aged tequila and a dash of cayenne add just the right kick.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 teaspoon Simply Organic Cinnamon 2.45 oz.
  • 1/8 teaspoon Simply Organic Cayenne Pepper 2.89 oz.
  • 4 Simply Organic Cinnamon Sticks 1.13 oz.
  • 10 ounces chopped dark chocolate
  • 6 cups milk
  • 4 ounces añejo (aged) tequila

Directions:

1. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium-sized heat-proof bowl.
2. Heat the milk just to boiling in the microwave. Depending on your microwave, this may take around 3 minutes. Be careful, it might boil over, so watch closely. Alternatively, heat it on the stovetop in a saucepan, careful to stir constantly with a wooden spoon to avoid scorching.
3. Once the milk reaches just the boiling point, carefully pour it over the chocolate and stir until the chocolate is smooth and completely melted. Add the cinnamon and cayenne and stir. Stir in the tequila and portion into serving mugs.
4. Add a cinnamon stick to each mug and serve.

This recipe is delicious without the alcohol. Simply omit if desired.
