The 10 Best Reptile Terrariums | Pets Supply Buying Guides

This Review has been updated 16 times since it was first published in October of 2016. While having a reptile for a friend can be a rewarding, low-maintenance way to enjoy pet ownership, it can be difficult to find a suitable home for your snake or lizard. These terrariums make it easy to feed and care for your pet, while also keeping them comfy and secure — because nothing can be more chilling than coming home to find that your python is missing and lying somewhere in your house. The 10 Best Reptile Terrariums

10. Zoo Med IguanArium

If you’re willing to do a little work to shore it up, the Zoo Med IguanArium offers a ton of space for your lizard to explore. While it’s massive enough that it can dominate a corner of your living room, it’s situated on top of four casters that make it easy to relocate.

9. Zilla Fresh Air

Made of sturdy aluminum framing and strong wire mesh, the Zilla Fresh Air will keep your reptilian friends right where you left them. It provides plenty of light and ventilation, which comes in handy if you like having your pets outside.

8. Exo Terra Breeding Box

It’s not nearly big enough for larger animals to use full-time, but if you have leopard geckos or small ackies, the Exo Terra Breeding Box can be an inexpensive way to house them. It’s also good for temporarily holding your bigger reptiles while you’re cleaning their cage.

7. Zilla Vertical Tropical

The Zilla Vertical Tropical comes with everything you need to create a comfy home for diminutive reptiles. You can fit as much as five inches of water at the bottom without it leaking, so frogs and other amphibians will have plenty of ocean to take a dip in.

6. Zoo Med Reptibreeze

The Zoo Med Reptibreeze is an open-air cage that chameleons, geckos, and other small lizards will love climbing all over. The mesh makes it easy for them to establish firm footholds, while also working to keep them contained — because loose chameleons are hard to find.

5. Tetra Deluxe

While nominally designed for turtles, the Tetra Deluxe works well with any smaller reptiles, especially those who enjoy spending all day basking in the sun. The kit includes a platform for lying out and a heat lamp, so your pet will feel like he’s on a beach somewhere.

4. Carolina Custom Cages Extra-Long

If you have a larger iguana — or just want to give your scaly buddy plenty of room to wander around — then the Carolina Custom Cages Extra-Long offers four feet of running space. It’s also good if you have multiple small reptiles that all need more elbow room.

3. Exo Terra Allglass

For new and experienced herpetologists, the Exo Terra Allglass is a clear winner, featuring a well-ventilated, raised bottom frame and dual front door design that allows easy access for feeding and cleaning, while keeping one door closed to reduce the risk of escapes.

2. Exo Terra Nano/Tall

The bottom of the Exo Terra Nano/Tall is elevated, allowing you to slip a substrate heater under there. It’s fantastic for burrowing reptiles, while still being tall enough to insert branches that will let climbers explore without feeling constrained.

1. Carolina Custom Cages

This selection from Carolina Custom Cages has a waterproof base, making it a smart choice for turtles or any other animals that need lots of water to thrive. That also gives you more placement options, as you can set it up on wooden furniture without fear of it rotting.
